What are the differences between the Exam Prep guides and the CA 36-hour specialized training?

Specialized Training courses may be used to satisfy CA Exam Eligibility Requirements. Exam Prep courses equip students with the knowledge and skillset necessary to pass the challenging state exams.

As far as the state is concerned, Specialized Training courses meet requirements for exam eligibility while Exam Prep courses do not.

As far as content and format, the Specialized Training courses are streamlined, including a basic structure of a handout, a lecture, and a quiz for each lesson. Whereas the Exam Prep courses include the handout, lecture, and quiz, but also have additional study aids and full-length practice exams at the end as well. This difference reflects the difference in intended use for them. Namely, satisfying state requirements and submitting the hours for Specialized Training courses versus being fully prepared for the exam with the knowledge and skillset necessary to recall the key information during the challenging state exams.
