What is the difference between a CEU, a PDH, and a Contact Hour?

Each CEU is equal to 10 hours of training.

CEUs (Continuing Education Credits)

Since American Water College is an Authorized IACET provider, we issue CEUs or Continuing Education Credits. Each CEU is equal to 10 hours of training. You will notice on your certificate of completion something like 3.6 CEUs or 1.6 CEUs instead of listing the number of hours for the course.

Different state agencies will have different names for the hours an operator needs. Each state will refer to these hours by different names.

Other forms of credit

Contact Hours, Professional Development Hours, Personal Growth Hours, and other names all generally mean a literal hour of training. States will convert our certificates with CEUs to hours when awarding credit for the course.
